​Summer School of the Economics of Migration

​Summer school courses provide a broad overview of the economic impacts of international migration. These courses examine the effects of immigration on labor markets, focusing on how immigrants' skills influence wages and productivity. It also delves into the methodological aspects of analyzing immigration, including the use of quasi-experiments and instrumental variables to assess causal effects. Additionally, the curriculum addresses the link between migration and climate change, exploring how environmental factors can influence migration patterns. ​​Graduate Courses

ECN 250A: Graduate Labor Economics is a course which has the main objective of developing students' ability to conduct original research by identifying trends in data and creating well-defined approaches to answer causal questions. Topics covered include the role of technology, institutions, firms, and labor mobility. A significant portion of the course is devoted to the economics of international migration, which is presented as a sub-field with insights from international, development, and public economics, as well as demography, sociology, and political science. The course requirements include reading and discussing material, giving a paper presentation, and writing a literature review and research proposal.
